The Artist
Born in Poland, Renata Horodyska has lived in the Montreal area most of her life.
A Concordia University student of Arts, she left her studies to devote herself to a one-child family. While raising her family, she endeavoured in styling: interiors, exteriors, and people as a personal buyer.
Rightfully so, Renata defines herself as a “Beautifier” rather than a designer. She uses her personal life experiences and her natural talent for seeing beauty and uniqueness, to craft wholesomeness.
Her work is globally inspired and influenced by her childhood in Poland, travels through Europe, recurring visits to the shores of les Iles de la Madeleine (Quebec), the Eastern coasts of Nova Scotia Canada, and her current life in beautiful Montreal.
As most rebellious and visionary artists, Renata works alone out of a home-workshop. She creates on feelings rather than on trend, making her art an enormous step above “ordinaire”, defining it as “High-End Ultimate Style”.
The Art
Renata Horodyska has chosen Sea-Glass as the focal point of her artistic expression.
Being extremely selective, she insists on doing the harvesting herself. Each Sea-Glass is distinct and unique in shape, color and age; some, dating back centuries.
Respecting the natural aspect of every piece, she refuses to alter its appearance and characteristics other than drilling a hole to ensure a safe and solid assembly.
Renata’s creativity consists of recognizing the soul of the Sea-Glass and determining the angle of presentation. Using different materials such as silver, pearls and natural stones, the Sea-Glass is enhanced and brought to the forefront to create a unique work-of-art, chef-d’oeuvre of personal embellishment exclusive to the BBR (Beauty by Renata) “High-End Ultimate Style” for the distinguished, refined and sophisticated.
Many pieces are gathered but very few make it to the workbench. The artist is very demanding of herself and the same applies to her creation. Considering, she limits her production to yearly collections that count more or less three hundred pieces plus individual orders which amount to approximately 10%. She has to allow a fair amount of her time to travel to the ocean shores of Canada and abroad in search of those inspiring pieces.
